Activities for all Seasons

The Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvannia offers a variety of recreational activities for all ages. In Summer enjoy cool lakes, rivers and streams with beaches, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, fishing and swimming, Try your hand a round of golf with friends at one of the many area golf courses from spring to late fall. There are many to choose from with challenging courses with beautiful mountain vistas. You'll find nature trails for hiking, biking and cross country skiing within some communities and at local state parks. Winter months bring snow and with that you can enjoy skiing, snowboarding and tubing at area ski resorts such as Camelback Mountain, Jack Frost and Big Boulder ski areas or rent a snowmobile and zip through the snowcovered mountainside. Take a trip down the Delaware or Lehigh river on a white water rafting adventure in spring or during the many scheduled damn releases, or enjoy a lazy float in your raft, canoe or tube in late summer.

Wildlife and Nature

Those wanting to get away from it all can do so here in the Poconos. Whether its a walk through a quiet forest, a bike ride down an old rail road track along a river or being the first to leave tracks on a cross country ski trail, solitude in nature can be found in the Poconos. There are thousands of acres of land set aside for nature in the Poconos. Many communities have houses that are nestled within the woods to allow nature to be nature. You'll see deer, turkey and the occational bear right in the backyards of the homes here. The Nature Conservancy named the Pocono Mountains one of the world's "Last Great Places" several years ago because of its unique glaciated ecosystem, which features several rare or globally endangered species. Those wanting to explore the local ecology can participate in area hikes lead by nature guides who will explain the local floura and fauna as well as wildlife and geological features of the Pocono Mountains. Exlore boulder fields created 20,000 years ago by glaciers or bogs with carniverous plants.


There is a variety of shopping to be had in the Pocono Mountains. Whether you are antique shopping or looking for designer clothes at a bargain, you'll find it in the Poconos. At the Crossings Premium Outlets® you'll find over 100 national outlet shops and in nearby towns you'll find independant stores offering a variety of goods. Antique stores dot the Poconos and from spring - fall many area churches and organizations host antique, craft and art shows. Farmers markets and roadside stands offering a bounty of fresh local produce can be found in season.

Arts & Entertainment

For arts and entertainment there are galleries and museums throughout the Poconos. On the first Saturday of every month, galleries and shops in Stroudsburg celebrate by having gallery openings, live music and other festivities. Live theater can been seen at the Shawnee Playhouse where they feature local and national talent. Shows and concerts can be seen at the revitalized Sherman Theater in Stroudsburg. The Pocono Mountain Arts Council offers classes with local artists in a variety of mediums and for all ages. They also sponsor gallery shows at a variety of venues.

The Pocono Mountains are a great place to golf. Challenging courses and beautiful vistas make it a pleasure playing. There are plenty of courses to choose from, many are only a short distance from rental homes that we offer.

Pools & Swimming

Kids & adults will enjoy swimming and playing at the many community pools. Some communities even have indoor pools for off season swimming. Swimming lessons, swim teams, snack bars, baby pools, slides, diving boards... are just a few of the things you'll find at some community pools. Each community is different so ask your REALTOR® to suggest a development that offers a pool and any additional activities you and your family might be interested in.

Lakes & Boating

Many communities offer their own lake(s) with swimming beaches and lifeguards.

There is a wide variety of boating activities available in the Pocono Mountains. A few lakes allow motor boats and jet skis including Lake Harmony and Lake Wallenpaupack.

Other lakes are suitable for canoes, kayaks, sailboats and row boats. Some communities offer boat rentals and there are companies that will rent boats on a daily basis.


Boating & River Trips

Canoe, Kayak, Tubing and White water rafting trips are available on the Delaware River or Lehigh River. These trips are fun for the whole family and there are several companies to choose from. The trips range from lazy float trips to exciting white water rafting.

Shopping Around

The Poconos offers a variety of shopping experiences. You'll find fabulous outlet shopping with big brand names to quaint towns with one of a kind stores, flea markets, farmers markets, antique shopping and more!

Water Parks

For an exciting day with friends and family check out a local water park.

Camelbeach Water Park is built on the slope side of a ski slope and offers a wave pool, Bumper boats, lazy river, plus many rafting and tubing slides for a day full of adventure and fun for kids of all ages.

Kalahari Water Park offers day passes and is one of the largest waterparks on the East Coast.

Winter Activities

There are several ski slopes throughout the Pocono Mountains. Enjoy downhill skiing, snowboarding and tubing.

Other winter activities include snowshoeing, cross country skiing, snowmobiling and ice skating.
